  • Error uploading Avatars

I am trying to confirm if this error is a vBulletin error, or just an error due to permissions on my server?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thx

If you hide the URL in your forum, remove the link from your profile too

Anyway, did you try: How To Setup Avatar Usage

Yeah, I suppose that would have been a good idea. tell me something though. Why would this happen right out of the blue? Could this happen if permissions were altered by mistake by my webhost?

        Perhaps.
If they changed the safe_mode from off to on for example.

That must be it because sitting the CHMOD to 777 didn't fix the problem.

Check the import & maintenace group > php info > and see what safe_mode is set to.
Then check the vbulletin options group > and see if the option for safe_mode on/off is set correctly and if safe_mode is on , what dir it points to as temp dir.

Let me ask something. Where specifically does avatars go when a user uploads an avatar?

Depends on your avatar storage type.
Avatars are uploaded by default into the database,
and per option to the web server's file system.
