If it's on the same server that would work. If not, then the other server would need to be configured to allow MySQL connections from your new server.

well, i guess one way to determine if its the database, is to point to the old working database...

I've never know of any other reason for the white pages. If the files were uploaded correctly, then I would suspect a problem with the database backup and/or retore. I suggest trying this again.

    No such luck.

All files re-uploaded in ASCII mode, no whitespaces on the ends of config.php either.

Is a clean install my only option? If so, how can I keep all my content/settings etc?

    2. You have extra space or lines in your config.php file. Make sure there is no whitespace or extra lines in config.php either before the <?php or after the ?>.

    3. You have added code to your header, headinclude or phpinclude templates that is no longer functional.
I will re-upload all the (non-image) files.. and see how that goes, as that is the only possibility given your options..

At this point it's unclear exactly what has been done. I suggest doing the database backup and restore again. The only reliable method of backing up and restoring a database is with shell access via telnet or ssh. Please see the instructions here:

    Backup:

    Restore:
    http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/m...ce_ssh_restore

Neither install or upgrade have actually run as yet.

there was that small error, but thats irrelivant now.

Its a case of what you see is what i got after 3 backup & reloads.

I've been up all night trying to figure out why its not working...

This is where i resides on my old server:

    http://67.18.196.228/~dfusion/forums/index.php

via telnet/ssh, I do an SQL dump (mysqldump), which i then reload on the new server with (source sqlfile.sql).

The files were gzipped, transferred and extracted.

I had moved servers, and reloaded the Database, but still got the DB error.

I read in another posts on here that I should run the 'install/upgrade' to set everything in order.

    Im running vb 3.0.3

Would it help if i gave u the admin info etc? or would that be an offical support ticket i would need to submit?

Are you running install or upgrade?

Also make sure there is no whitespace or extra lines in config.php either before the <?php or after the ?>. This is the most common cause of 'white' pages.
