    Restoring backup to PC

    Not too long ago I backed up my forum because I was moving to another server. I've changed servers a couple more times since then but am now somewhat settled.

    Well I decided to gut my forum and start all over because of all the BS that was mixed in with the 'good' stuff. Now I'm wondering is there a way to restore my backup of my old database to my PC and 'harvest' posts and threads for transfer to my new 'clean' forum?

    Not easily. The only way I know to do this is to restore the backup then remove what you don't want.

      How about restoring my 'old' database to another url (I have two other domains) for harvesting purposes only? Is that permissible and doable?
