2 questions regarding birth year and permissions

2 quick questions.

1. How can I make it so that a new user must enter a 'birth year' when signing up.

2. Is there any way to automatically put users under the age of 18 into a specified 'user group' or do I have to get a programmer for that.

If you require birthday during registration then I guess the year is also required. But I never test this, I'll try to find this out for you.

2.
You must turn on 'COPPA' so underaged are put in the COPPA registration group - I think you have to moderate their entries and then they are moved into the default registration group. I think it indeed requires custom code to make users of a certain age to automaticly go into a non-default usergroup.

1) You can require birthdays for new registrations by enabling this option:

Admin CP -> vBulletin Options -> User Registration Options -> Default Registration Options -> Require Birthday

2) COPPA is for users 13 and under, not 18 and under. Automatically placing new users in a different group based on them being younger or older than 18 would require modifying the register.php file. For this reason I recommend you post on www.vbulletin.org, the official vB hacking site.
