want to add an admin button

i would like an admin button at the top of the forum as well as the bottom

Change the NAVBAR template. But you'd need to only allow Admins to see it, so you'd have to duplicate the code in the FOOTER (?) template.

thanks, have managed that but i have a stupid graphic showing, i have a - [dash] after the word Admin

suppose it comes in the code as at the bottom of the board it is there, but i cannot get rid of it

no big deal but i would like to understand why

You can safely edit the dash out, it's just a spacer on the footer bar...
(At least, I did when I was testing something... )
