  • Adding banners, and something else

    Hey guys I was just wondering how I put a banner anywere in the forum, or wherever vB allows it, if I can do it. And also wondering how am I able to set the forum to make guests register if they want to see the forum. So any help is appreciated.

    1. Banners.

    You can goto the Admin Control Panel > Styles & Templates > Style Manager > and modify the 'header' template. It has comments on how to add a banner.

    2. Guest Permissions.

    You can goto the Admin Control Panel > Usergroups > Usergroup Manager > and modify the usergroup 'Unregistered / Not logged in' and set 'Can View Forum' permissions to 'No'. (and any other permission that should be no).

        1. Banner in header template.

        The header template shows this text:

        HTML Code:
         <td align="$stylevar[right]">
          NEW HEADER &amp; NAVBAR
          Now that the nav buttons are in the
          navbar template, you can stick whatever
          you like into this space.
          This makes it much easier for novice
          admins to customize their header
          template without affecting important
          navigation elements.
        You can replace it with this:

        HTML Code:
         <td align="$stylevar[right]">
        <a href="LINK TO ADVERTISER"><img border="0" src="LINK TO BANNER" /></a>

        2. What text specificly?

          1. (index_header) I just add the code you gave me under the "<td align="$stylevar[right]">" there? And when I do I only add the link to banner and link to site, not the img_border.

          2. This text "If this is your first visit, be sure to check out the FAQ by clicking the link above. You may have to register before you can post: click the register link above to proceed. To start viewing messages, select the forum that you want to visit from the selection below. " The promt to register, if you're not logged in.

            2. Try looking in "Global Phrases--> first_visit_message"
            Is that what you're looking for? (Sorry, mine's edited, I THINK that's how it used to read)
