  • Error Installing to Root directory

I have installed vb fine when in a subdirectory such as "forums", but I am trying to install into the root path, and I am getting this error when trying to install:

    http://server/install/install.php (example)

Warning: chdir(): No such file or directory (errno 2) in E:\Webs\vbtest\web\install\install.php on line 17

Warning: main(./install/installcore.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in E:\Webs\vbtest\web\install\install.php on line 69

Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required './install/installcore.php' (include_path='.;c:\php4\pear') in E:\Webs\vbtest\web\install\install.php on line 69

    I am running vBulletin on W2K Server, IIS5, PHP4x & MySQL.

Where "e:\webs\vbtest\web" is the root path mapping to http://servername/

Is the vBulletin directory structure correct within the web root directory? Are all of the vB files uploaded within that structure?

      Yes.

If I create a folder called "forum", and drag all files from root to forum, then the install works fine. So this verifies that the correct files are present.

I can then drag them back to root (without running the install initially), and it doesn't work.

I have performed the std install about 8 times (many test installs on different equipment for testing) with no problems at all.

I am also using PHP as a cgi .exe if that helps in anyway.

If the files and directory structure are correct and you continue to get that error then we will have to take a look. Submit a support ticket with a forum and server login.
