Remove Background image

How do I replace the blue background image with a similiar blue html hex code for a faster loading forum for the dial up users.

Is this possible and if so will it make a great difference for the dial up users?

Admin Control Panel > Styles & Templates > Style Manager > Drop Down : Main CSS > Category Strips > Standard CSS Attributes > Background

Change:
#869BBF url(images/gradients/gradient_tcat.gif) repeat-x top left
into:
#869BBF

And save the changes
