it seems i have a pesky bug! my user name in the (whos online) is missed spelled. but its only miss spelled in the whos online and no where else. instead of townjester, its gownjester? it could be a hacker since i have just started having a problem with some members that have swarn to hack the site? any help on how to fix this?

its also spelled wrong in the top right corner where it says ( welcome..user name)

Are you sure that is your user and not another user? Does the userid in the link match your userid?

yes it me! and if i hit the link current active users. then it will show my nick right, so its only wrong in the whos online box at the bottom of the forms and in the welcom (user nick box) at the top? my post have the right nick and in the user cp it is also all right.

ok i got it! i dont know what happened but when i set the whos online in the portal to forms only it did that to my nick? when i reset it back to portal only my nick went back to the right way? strange,

That's weird. I am going to take some guesses...

This might be the result of a replacement variable at work. Make sure there are no replacement variables set to replace your name:

Admin CP -> Styles & Templates -> Replacement Variable Manager

Also try creating a new default style with no parent to eliminate the possibility of this being a style problem:

Admin CP -> Styles & Templates -> Style Manager -> [Add New Style]

Create a new style with no parent. Then go back to the Style Manager and click on the name of the style to view your forums with it. See if the problem is still there.

Also try rebuilding your users records:

Admin CP -> Import & Maintenance -> Update Counters -> Fix broken user profiles

...and updating your usernames:

Admin CP -> Import & Maintenance -> Update Counters -> Update User Names

Or maybe your username is messed up in the database. I solved a username problem earlier today by going to the:

Admin CP -> Users -> Search for Users

Find your user and edit your profile. Change your username, save the changes, then go back and change it back.

It never hurts to run a repair/optimize on your database:

Admin CP -> Import & Maintenance -> Repair / Optimize Tables

If you still have the problem then try uploading the original PHP files in ASCii mode, overwriting the existing files.

If nothing works then we will need to look at this. Fill out a support ticket with your server and forum login so we can take a look.

Then the problem must be with the portal you are using. In that case you should contact the author of the portal for help.
