• Invalid SQL error

Ive only seen one of these errors so far but I typcally NEVER see SQL errros unless the server is being rebooted...

Database error in vBulletin 3.0.1:
Invalid SQL:

UPDATE user

SET displaygroupid = 0,

membergroupids = '',

options = (options & ~8192)

, usergroupid=2

customtitle = 0, usertitle = 'Registered User'

WHERE userid = 380

mysql error: You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'customtitle = 0, usertitle = 'Registered User'

WHERE userid

mysql error number: 1064

Date: Saturday 10th of July 2004 12:00:06 AM

Script:
http://www.talonclub.com/forum/cron.php?&rand=711824

Referer: http://www.talonclub.com/forum/private.php?do=newpm&pmid=13711

Username: XXXX
IP Address: XX.92.39.XXX
I bet its related to the promotion that I recently added BUT - Its not a hack and the promotion is only supposed to impact people with 10 posts or less - This user has 300 posts. It appears to be related to the scriopt that generates Private messages but Im in the dark...

I tried searching here but there are TONS of invalid mysql errors each with different resoution...

Anyone have any ideas???

Have you installed any hacks (including portals) or added any code to the headinclude, header or phpinclude templates? If not, fill out a support ticket at:

http://www.vbulletin.com/members/mem...ontactform.php

Be sure to include the login info to your Admin CP, phpMyAdmin and FTP. If you have installed hacks or added code, then remove the hacks first then check and see if you still have this problem. If so, leave the default vB files in place and fill out the support request.

I do appreciate you suggesting some files to look at for trouble, however
......The code to me appears to be related to the promotion that I just recently implemented. Since it appears the SQL is trying to change the usergroup id... I simply used the out of the box promotions UI from the Admin CP ...

Its disappointing to read that if I modified my header template - to add a banner or perhaps to change the VB logo to something else. Or if I modified the phpinclude template - which I understood was designed to allow people to add things to the header or footer. Then I am ineligible for support ? Thats great thanks... Very helpful....

perhaps you should change this note in the header template
<!--
NEW HEADER & NAVBAR

Now that the nav buttons are in the
navbar template, you can stick whatever
you like into this space.
This makes it much easier for novice
admins to customize their header
template without affecting important
navigation elements.
-->
And add a BIG BUT ...
"However - If you stick anything in this space your VB installation is instantly unsupported. Have a nice day "
According to the find updated templates link none of the templates you listed have been updated...

However when looking at the style manager all 3 templates are red ... Which is kind of odd since Phpincludeend is red as if its been changed YET when I click on it the template is empty and when I click on show default - it is empty as well..

We cannot provide official support for script changes, regardless of where the code is placed.

Try this. Reupload the original vbulletin-style.xml file from the zip file to your install directory. Make sure you upload this in ASCII and overwrite the one on the server. Then import this file in the 'Upload' section of the Style Manager.

Next create a new style and choose no parent style. This will force it to use the default templates. Then change to this style and view your forums with it. Do you have the same problem?

If so, the problem is with the changes you made.

The error is emailed to me once a day at exactly midnight.

it appears to be generated by the cron script as noted in the error above
Script: http://www.talonclub.com/forum/cron.php?&rand=711824

So replacing the XML file, creating a new style with no parent and selecting that style wont help diagnose

I still think its related to the promote I implemented... I guess I need to remove that as test .....
