  • How can I make the Birthday field Editable ONLY at Registration?

Unfortunately, the Birthday Profile Field never shows up under the User Profile Field Manager.

Now, I am extremely grateful that the Devs added the option to make a User Profile Field editable only at registration.

My problem is that I also need to have the Birthday Field editable only at registration.

Can anyone tell me what I need to do in order to accomplish this?

    Thanks!

Funny you should mention this one....I'd like the answer too.

I've got this one "funny guy" who's been "celebrating" his birthday for two weeks now. I had to tell him if he manipulates the system one more time he's gone. Of course, one doing something encourages others....

Kindergarten stuff, yes. Still, ya gotta deal with it....

True. But I want it protected because it's also additional identification if a user should cause a problem later on (such as threatening other users in real life).

By locking the information in, after they register, not only do you keep people from changing their profile fields to evade responsibility - but you can also use it to check on the validity of their information.

For example, the current implementation of a field being editable only at registration makes the fields not even visible to users afterwards.

Six months later, you can PM/email them asking them to confirm their name/birthday/address/etc... and if they give you conflicting information, than you know that they lied to you at one time or another.

It's a helpful tool to weed out the troublemakers.

So, anyone have an answer to this question yet?

Alright, it's been a week since I posted this question.

Can one of the vB Staff or Devs please respond?

Sorry, I don't know how to do this without modifying the code.

Alright, thanks Steve. I'll post this in Suggestions then.
