In order to track the user, yes. Otherwise it will be a guest user or search engine bot.

Can I take out the sessionURL? Will the forum still works properly?

What will happen if I take our the sessionURL?

      Thanks,
      Linda

The reason why I"m asking this is because I want to create my forum into all static pages so that the search engines can scan it.

If I have the sessionurl in their, it will have duplicate content for the search engines with tons of different URL.

If a user logs in, than does it still require the sessionURL?

The search engines already scan vB3 by default.

I though that search engines do not scan dynamic pages. Are you sure that the search engines like MSN, Yahoo, Google will be able to scan all the posts on my site?

There's also the built in archive option for VB3 that creates static content pages for any SE's that don't read dynamic pages.... which is primarily the smaller ones. Google does spider dynamic pages tho, at least they've had no problem with mine - even back to VB2.
