  • Not receiving email notification of new posts

I'm occasionally not receiving email notification of new posts to threads that I have written in to here at vB.com/.org etc. (yes I have it set to `instant notification")
It hasn't happened often, but the last few days I do not receive notification of a reply for about 50% of my posts.

This could be something out of the blue and I could ignore it and maybe it'll go away, but with concern that it could happen to members at my own site, I thought I'd check.

If it's not vB but something with my webhost's server, what do I ask them?

There is nothing on our end that would cause you to get some emails but not others. Don't really know what to suggest.

FWIW I get *every* email notification from these forums without a problem.

I am also having this problem, on my own server that iss.
As admin I get everything, and I tried changing my email address to another one off of the server and it still worked. My mods are saying that they're not getting anything. We just switched servers ... but everything else seems fine!

Ricker, this thread was about emails from these forums. Please start a new thread about your problem with all the relevant details. Make sure you have run the email diagnostics in the Admin CP.

Steve could you please reply to this post so I can see if I receive an email notification?
I haven't received any to another recent post/Thread, and the same to a post in vB.org that was replied to.

            Thanks,
            Mark

Nope I'm not getting them. I'm set to instant notification.
                BTW everything else purrrrs

If you think this may have something to do with my webhost's service, what questions should I ask?

I don't have a problem receiving emails from my own vB, I guess because I have it set to receive all emails.. but I have been having this problem with email notifications from vb.org and another vB site.

                Thanks for any suggestions,

Steve, I was just here at the site, and your previous post actually came through in my email.
I use Spam Assassion that the host provides, and I've never had vB notifications come in tagged as spam.

If you don't mind, please send me aother test post.
I'm going off the board here too, not that it should make a difference,

                    Thanks,

I have Spam Assasin too and I had to add vbulletin.com to my white_list.

I have been having the same problem with many of the members of our forum. I am currently attempting to take an inventory of the people who are having this issue, but don't want to be too obvious about it.

So far, my suspection is spam filters catching the emails, but I'm not sure. We use spamassassin on our server, and there is no exemption for the forum domain, but I've never missed an email notification.

All of the members I have spoken to have instant notification on, and are subscribed to the threads that they are not receiving.

If anyone has ideas about why this might be happening, please help us out.

I've just set up a forum at ShareChat. We've got the 3 of the 4 forums set to

                            Moderation Options
Email Addresses to Notify When there is a New Post addy@sharechat.co.nz
Email Addresses to Notify When there is a New Thread [email protected]

and the first email went out but nothing since then.

The email doesn't belong to a human or a forum member but to an ezmlm mailing list, but that shouldn't matter, a single email should be sent for every post or thread - shouldn't it?

What is the best way to acheive this?

Yes it should. You will need to view the mail logs on the server to see what happened to those emails. Once vB sends it to PHP it's in the hands of the server. If you are on a shared server you may need to ask your host to look through the logs for you.
