  • How do I update thread and post counters?

    Hi

One of the co-admin of my board did some refinements on the forums. As soon as you do a batch file move in the adminCP panel, it immediately prompts you to update your thread and post counters. When he selected the link to do so, it said that he didn't have the permissions needed to perform that task and to contact the main administrator, which is me. So I was wondering how I coud do that as I am not sure to understand what it's all about.

Thanks in advance for your support.

    Best Regards,

    Alex

You are required as administrator to give your other administrators the permissions they need.

Admin Control Panel > Forums & Moderators > Administrator Permissions

Here you can setup the permissions your fellow admin requires in order to do the update counters himself.

Thank you for your reply Floris.

Yes I had set up the perms, the problem is that I made some permissions restrictions and they caused the problem stated above. The permissions issue is now fixed. However, since the counters have not been updated, how can I do it now that threads have been massively moved? the stats on index page decreased of something like 300 from the total posts count.

      Best Regards,

      Alex

If you have deleted posts from a forum or user, and update post count. It will count the actual posts and not remember if a user ever made 5 posts that are deleted.

Make sure you update post count, thread info and forum info.

Admin Control Panel > Import & Maint. > Update counters > press the appropiate buttons.

form the admin control panel, bottom left there is a box 'import& maintenance'
there click on the 'update counters'
there are lots of counters that can be updated, do the ones you are interested in...
