  • Database Backup - Help Needed Please!

    Hiya,

We're running Vbulletin on a server together with many other scripts which use our database. I want to empty our database of all tables that are NOT part of the standard Vbulletin package. In essence, I want to clean out our server, re-install Vbulletin, then import all the data (members/posts/threads, etc).

My question is: in the AdminCP, when I try to do a backup, it gives me ALL the tables in our database. I would just like the tables that are used by Vbulletin. I use no prefix. Which tables should I back up?

    ~Tom

    Im not quite following you,

How will you be importing said data? via na importer or by restoring the database over the newly installed vB ?

You can not import a .sql dump into an existing NEW installation of vbulletin. This will cause issues.

In order to restore a backup, please read the manual for more details.
        (Appendix 3: Technical Documents)

If you want to import into vbulletin, use the impex import system.

Thanks. Then let me rephrase. Suppose I wanted to delete EVERY table we have except Vbulletin3 tables. How would I find out which tables are used by VB3?
