Custom user titles... and ranks....

Hi All

Now that I have moved my forums to my new webhost, I am starting to put together the migration plan for moving from phpBB2 to vB3.0.1 as I want to make sure when I actually close my board to do it, that I get as much right in as short amount of time as possible.

However, I am a little confused about the relationship (if any) between phpBB2's ranks and rank images (which are based mainly on post count), and how I achieve this in vB. Do I use Custom User titles to achieve this? or is this a different thing alltogether?

I will also be running some subscriptions and will want images associated with subscribers i.e. if they contribute I'd like to reward with a 'contributor' image. Is this a Custom User Title...?

You would want to use the User Ranks to create the default ladder.

I'm not familar with phpBB' system, but if I get what you are asking, you should be able to do with with the following:

AdminCP-->User Titles-->User Title Manager

From here, create your user titles, set the number of posts needed for each one, and in the title field, specify what the user title will be, and then use the "img scr=..." to specify the image.

Example:

Title: Newbie <br><img src=http://www.yoursite.com/forums/images/star1.gif>
Minimum Posts: 1
 
Title: Member <br><img src=http://www.yoursite.com/forums/images/star2.gif>
Minimum Posts: 200

Now everytime a user gets x posts, their title will automatically change to the appropriate title & image.

Cheers Vile... thats the equivalent of phpBB2's ranks system. What if I also want to use images for members when they subscribe and become contributors...? How do I do this also.. is it a different thing?

Honestly, I've never set it up automatically for subscriptions & contributors so I have no idea. Hopefully someone else can jump in and help.

The way I have it setup for contributing members is a seperate usergroup for them, and I have a different title & image for that usergroup. Then I just add members who contribute to that usergroup, so their title & image automatically change once they are set to the contributors usergroup.

OK I understand that Vile thanks, but at the same time do you also run the rank system with images based on a users post count as you explained above?
