Error Message...?

Ok, I upgraded to the latest edition of vB3 about a week ago. I got this message from one of my users and have seen this myself when trying to post a new message or reply. It won't post it and this Error Message comes up.

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted at (null):0 (tried to allocate 129 bytes) in /home/virtual/site1/fst/var/www/html/vbulletin/includes/functions_search.php on line 197

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted at (null):0 (tried to allocate 0 bytes) in Unknown on line 0

What is wrong? How do I fix this?

open php.ini

look for
memory_limit = 8M

change this to

memory_limit = 16M

You'll find that a few things are memory intensive, rather than processor intensive. Increasing the limit and restart apache will fix this.

So when I open php.ini, is that in the vbulletin control panel, my sites control panel, or my servers control panel?

Is restarting apache tough?

If you down own your server or your own sharaed hosting youll need to ask your host to do this, if this is your own dedicated server youll need to SSH in assuming its linux and edit the php.ini file.
