getting this now and then, can anyone tell me the cause and how to fix it

The MySQL server is either crashed, shut down or in a reboot. When this is happening and a connection is attempted to be made it will return with this error.

Please make sure that the MySQL server is running or restart it.

That is a generic connection error.

If you are getting this error intermittently then the problem is most likely that your MySQL service is going up and down... maybe being restarted. You should ask your host about this problem.

i figured out this, whenever i prune attachments i get this error, well everyone does and i get 50 emails telling me

If you have your own server check the error logs, if your being hosted by someone contact them and see what the problem may be.
