  • Getting subforums to show on forumhome

    I'm trying to get subforums to show up on forumhome and am not having any success.

    The layout is Category1 > Forum1 > Subforum1. On the forumhome page I see Category1 and Forum1. I do not see Subforum1.

    I changed the settings in vBulletin Options > Forum Listing Display Options > Depth of Forums - Forum Home and Depth of Forums - Forum Display both to 5. I still do not see Subforum1 on forumhome. Is there another setting that I am missing?

    btw... If I change the Depth of Subforums to a higher number I see Subforum1 show up in the Forum1 description as links.

    I'm pretty sure this isn't possible without modifying the code. I would check over at

      So is the "Depth of Forums - Forum Home" basically limited to being set to 1 or 2? I guess that would expalin it. I can't find any reference to it in the doc though.

        Depth of Sub-Forums ... If you have forums below the depth specified in the 'Depth of Forums' settings above, you can display them as sub-forum links in each forum's display area.
        Basically as I understand it having them displayed as links on the forum home is the extent of it. What were you hoping for the description and everything else as shown for a regular forum? If so why not just make it a separate forum than a subforum??

          Displaying full forums beyond level 2 requires adding templates for those levels. Go to your:

          Admin CP -> Styles & Templates -> Style Manager -> Add New Template (in the menu)

          Add these templates:

          <tr align="center">
          	<td class="alt2"><img src="$stylevar[imgdir_statusicon]/forum_$forum[statusicon].gif" alt="" border="0" /></td>
          	<td class="alt1Active" align="$stylevar[left]" id="f$forum[forumid]">
          			<a href="forumdisplay.php?$session[sessionurl]f=$forum[forumid]"><strong>$forum[title]</strong></a>
          			<if condition="$show['browsers']"><span class="smallfont">(<phrase 1="$forum[browsers]">$vbphrase[x_viewing]</phrase>)</span></if>
          		<if condition="$show['forumdescription']"><div class="smallfont">$forum[description]</div></if>
          		<if condition="$show['forumsubscription']"><div class="smallfont"><strong><a href="subscription.php?$session[sessionurl]do=removesubscription&amp;f=$forum[forumid]">$vbphrase[unsubscribe_from_this_forum]</a></strong></div></if>
          		<if condition="$show['subforums']"><div class="smallfont" style="margin-top:$stylevar[cellpadding]px"><strong>$vbphrase[subforums]</strong>: $forum[subforums]</div></if>
          	<td class="alt2" nowrap="nowrap">$forum[lastpostinfo]</td>
          	<td class="alt1">$forum[threadcount]</td>
          	<td class="alt2">$forum[replycount]</td>
          	<if condition="$vboptions['showmoderatorcolumn']">
          	<td class="alt1"><div class="smallfont">$forum[moderators]&nbsp;</div></td>
          	<td class="tcat"><span class="smallfont">&nbsp;</span></td>
          	<td class="tcat" colspan="<if condition="$vboptions['showmoderatorcolumn']">5<else />4</if>">
          		<a href="forumdisplay.php?$session[sessionurl]f=$forum[forumid]">$forum[title]</a>
          		<if condition="$show['forumdescription']"><div class="smallfont">$forum[description]</div></if>
          		<if condition="$show['subforums']"><div class="smallfont"><strong>$vbphrase[subforums]</strong>: $forum[subforums]</div></if>
          You can change the code in these templates to create a different look for the level 3 forums.
