Not quite. Read the first reply.

The user tried to post BEFORE he did the activation in the email.
Then, AFTER he did the activation, he STILL could not post!

    The user figured it out!!

Here is his email back to me. Is this a vb bug, or ???

How can we prevent this issue in the future?

    Thanks!!

I figured out what was wrong and can post/reply now. Deleting all my
temporary files and cookies allowed me to post.

Someone (at vbulletin maybe) needs to add "Response.Expires = -1" to the top
of the every php page that does authentication.

    To reproduce the problem:

    1. Register a new user.
    2. Login and attempt to post to a forum without having replied to the
activation email (you will get an error you cannot access the page).
    3. Exit all browsers,
    4. Reply to activation email.
    5. Return to the site and attempt to post to the forum in #2- you will get
the error you cannot access the page.

I had no idea an activation email was on its way (that should be documented
better) and I immediately went to use the site. Some authentication pages
are being cached, and even after replying to the activation email you still
    cannot post.

user cannot post from his PC

    Greetings!

We have a very odd issue on our VB 3.0.0 system.

A new user registered, name: joe
He cannot post. When he tries to post he gets the std vb error:

joe, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
    1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
    2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.
So Joe comes to us, and says 'help! I can't post!' He gives me his userid and pw, and I log in, and I can post as joe.

I asked him to go to the vbulletin.com 'test things out' forum, and he can post fine there.

So what do I look for next?

I really have no clue. It looks to me like he should be able to post, since I can log in as that same user and it posts fine.

He is running IE with latest patches.

    Thanks!
