  • Reply vs quote

    I am trying to change the 'quote' button on PMs to 'reply' as described in various threads. However, they all mention changing the postbit template. In the area concerned, mine references

    <if condition="$post['replylink']">
    <a href="$post[replylink]"><img src="$stylevar[imgdir_button]/<if condition="$post['forwardlink']">reply_small<else />quote</if>.gif" alt="$vbphrase[reply_with_quote]" border="0" /></a>
    </if>

    with an extra test in there for condition=forwardlink compared to the quoted examples. If I make any change to this it breaks the code and smilies stop working. Is this the right area to be changing, and if so does anyone have the example that doesn't break smilies please

    Chaning that link should not effect smilies whatso ever.if your using vB 3.0.1 you dont need to make any modifcations just make sure your using the default postbit and you will get a reply button

      That's a shame. Made sure I reverted the template and it's still only giving me a Quote for both posts and PMs. Still, at least people can use smileys now

      I assume the code above is correct on my site? It references 'if condition = replylink' with a nested 'if condition = forwardlink'. I seem to only get the 'else' clause for the latter test

        Are you using 3.0.1?

          it's *supposed* to be 3.0.1 ... the file check reports everything is OK
