  • Thumbnail Resizing

I've upgraded to vb3 and really like the thumbnail feature - but I can't seem to get it to do what I want.

Basically the whole point of enabling thumbnails should be that when an image is larger than x across or y high it should create a thumbnail. The idea being that if the image was going to push out our template we want to reduce it.

Now the way it currently works seems to suggest if it's bigger than the size of the thumbnail it automatically get's reduced. Well what's the point in that? Thumbnails are by their nature small, so anything larger (nearly every image posted), will get reduced even if it's not so large as to push out the template.

I want to be able to say - make a thumbnail this size, but only do so if the image is larger than a different size?

Or am i missing something? I certainly don't understand what the options:
    Maximum Thumbnail Image Width
    Maximum Thumbnail Image Height
    - are for when "Thumbnail Size" seems to do the job in the admincp.

Please can anyone shed some light on this. Thanks!

To my understanding thumbnails are there to give a preview of the attached images.

Thanks for the quick reply floris - that would seem to be the case, but it doesn't explain why you have three options in the admincp for thumbnail attachements but only one seems to serve any useful purpose (see above).
