  • Disable [URL] [/URL]

    Hello,

Is there an option to disable this particular vbcode only - [ URL ] [ /URL ] ?

When i disable vbcode, the rest like [b] [i] [img] will be disabled too.

However, i only want to disable [ URL ] [/URL].

    Thank you.

There is no built-in function to do this. This requires modifying the code. You can try asking over at vbulletin.org.

Maybe I missed something, but isn't this what you are looking for?

Admin Control Panel > vBulletin Options > vBulletin Options > BB Code Settings >
Enabled Built-in BB Codes > [x] Links ([URL], [THREAD], [POST])

set that to [ ] (uncheck it) and save.

You're right of course. I didn't look close enoough and was looking for [URL] alone.

Thanks a great deal to both your replies.

          Floris' suggestion worked! Thank you.

Is there a way to disable [url] in only registered members, but admin/moderators still are able to post [url] ?

          Thank you.

That would require hacking, you should try asking at vBulletin.org

              Thanks. I will forgo hacking.

              As i have disable [url].

I would like to make [x] as an alternative [url] for admin/moderators only. And want to add [x] [/x] as custom BB codes.

However, I am stumped at the "replacement", even after reading the explainations.

Can you help me with adding [x] [/x] in the custom BB codes?

              Thank you.

Can I just ask, why do you want to prevent your members from posting links?

                  Add BB Code.
Am i missing out on something?

                  Title : Test
                  Tag : x
                  Replacement : <a href="{option}">{param}</a>
                  Example : testing
                  Description : testing
                  Use {option} : yes

                  Thanks for any help.

                  -----

poolking, I am disabling it because newly registered members' main concern is to spam their affiliates, referrals, advertisements, etc.

BBcode [ URL ] seems to be a very well-known code in forums. We are disabling this [ URL ] to make links not active, and would be a deterant for them from doing so. It's an almost same situation i am facing with signatures. http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=100876

However, long time members will notified of the alternative " [url] " we are using.

Thanks for asking. Have a good day.

When using [URL] tags how can I make the page open in the same browser window? At the moment it opens the page in a new window.
