  • Database error on step 7 of the install

The past 3 days I have tried installing gold on multiple databases and I keep getting "error connecting to database" on step 7 of the install.

If I skip step 7 and go to step 8 it continues fine but loads a blank page on /index.php

Did you transfer the files on to the server in binary and not ascii?

        "error connecting to database"

This means pretty much exactly what it says. Either the info in config.php is wrong, the db user does not have permission to access the db, or there is a problem with the server.

Why do I only receive this error on step 7, though?

Steps 1-6 and 8-finish all connect to the database and complete. Just the style template step.

Sorry I don't know why. Nonetheless the error says it's having problems connecting to the database.
