  • Geez almost successful

Okay, finally got to try upgrade script on my test db for vBulletin so I wouldn't even have to call the provider to clean out and reout my backup if the upgrade failed. I got a lot further this time but still got stuck upgrading from version 2.3.3:

    MSQL version: 3.23.51
    PHP 4.3.3

Invalid SQL: DELETE FROM phrase WHERE languageid = -10
mysql error: Got error 127 from table handler

    mysql error number: 1030

I just need to get this darn thing working. Do I need to clean out my test db again and start over?

Can you help me fast? I like the software and have been recommending it to quite a few people.

    Thanks.

Looks like your database crashed during the upgrade.

You should restore the backup you made before you started and attempt again

Also run repair.php after restoring the backup.

        Almost but not quite

Okay, I'll try it. What could have caused the crash? Any ideas?

It's impossible to know the exact cause of any specific table crash. generally this is caused by problems with the MySQL server.

            One problem after another

Okay, I finally had some time to try to run the repair.php as you mentioned after I had my test DB restored. All I got was this message:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: can_administer() in /usr/home/sites/www.pudendalnerve.info/web/forums/forumtest/admin/repair.php on line 28.

Can you please help me get this upgrade completed.

Are you running repair.php from your admin directory? Which vB version are the files you have on your server?

Actually that function isn't used by repair.php at all. What are you running exactly and what is the complete error message?

                  Information

In the AdminCP it states version 2.3.4.

                  Running MySQL 3.23.58
                  phpMyAdmin 2.5.1

                  No shell access.

I was able to run the other script - was it compare or something like that. Then my entire test DB was a mess so I had my ISP put a copy of my working forum back into the test DB. Now I"m trying to get through the upgrade procedures on my test DB before I try to upgrade my working forum.

                  Thank.s

                      Error Message with repair.php

Steve, look at message #7, the second paragraph. That paragraph is the entire error msg.

                        Just to make things clear.

You have an older version 2.x and wanted to upgrade to 2.3.5 first before upgrading to vBulletin version 3.0.1?

Message #7 is mine. If you mean #6, then you need to include the script info. As I said this function is not being called by repair.php so I have no idea what you are doing when you get that error.

Okay, I'm wearing out - need food

Hi again Steve, and thanks for hanging in there for me.

I read another post about how to run the repair.php script so I typed in http://www.pudendalnerve.info/forums...html=1&check=1.

The above command was typed into the browser window. That is when we received the error message in #6.

Overall goal - upgrade working forum to version 3. I ran another compare script or something like that, you provided and told me to run it. Then I ran the update script and worked through it for about 20 minutes before it pooped out on me and stopped working.

                            Thanks again Steve.

I can't run that without access to your Admin CP. If you have not installed any hacks (which includes portals), fill out a support ticket at:

                              http://www.vbulletin.com/members/mem...ontactform.php

Be sure to include the login info to your Admin CP, phpMyAdmin and FTP. If you have installed hacks, then remove the hacks first then check and see if you still have this problem. If so, leave the default vB files in place and fill out the support request.
