  • Editing Posts - Reason for Editing Feature

    I would like to use this, but is there a way to turn off which mod edits the post but the reason for editing still shows up?

    thanks.

    Hi there,

    I believe it is a usergroup permission where you can set to show the reason.

    brb, let me look it up.

      HowTo : Show "Edited By" note in posts per Usergroup

      HowTo : Show "Edited By" note in posts per Usergroup

      Administrator Control Panel > Usergroups > Usergroup Manager >

      Edit the usergroup you want to turn this feature on/off for.

      Show edited by note on edited messages? YES/NO
      Enabling this option will display an "edited by" note in posts that are edited by members of this group. This setting works in conjunction with the "Time to Wait Before Starting to Display 'Edited by" setting in your vBulletin options.

        This could be accomplished by modifying the POSTBIT template. Here's the section in question:
        PHP Code:
        <if condition="$show['postedited']">
                <!--
        edit note -->
                    <
        div class="smallfont">            <hr size="1" color="$stylevar[tborder_bgcolor]/>
                        <
        em>
                        <
        phrase 1="$post[edit_username]2="$post[edit_date]3="$post[edit_time]">$vbphrase[last_edited_by_x_on_y_at_z]</phrase>.
                        <if
        condition="$post['edit_reason']">$vbphrase[reason]: $post[edit_reason]</if>
                        </
        em>
                    </
        div>
                <!-- /
        edit note -->
                </if>
        It seems to me that if you were to use only phrases 2 and 3 and reword slightly you could get something like:
        "Last edited on: April 5, 2004 at 07:00 Reason: TOS Violation"

          Now I am confused. I just want mod's to be able to use this feature and NOT have it show "edited by" after they do the edit BUT show the reason for the edit.

            In that case turn the setting on, and apply the template tweak to each of your styles as sandman suggested. Thank you for your help sandman!
