    Maybe, I'm not sure.

Do you have phpmyadmin installed so you can look at your table sizes through there?

    attachment Disk Usage 77.24 MB
That is correct. Your attachments are using 77.24 MB on disk (in the file system).

But this one has gone up ....
    Database Data Disk Usage
That shouldn't be. The newly freed space might still need to be accounted for. Try running this:

Admin CP -> Import & Maintenance -> Repair / Optimize Tables

    1) The thumbnails are kept in the database.

    2) Yes and yes.

    3) Yes, but only if the transfer was successful.

    4) I just performed this action on my upgraded test forum which has about 70MB of attachments. The move was done in just a few seconds. Of course this time will vary with speed of your server.

    attachments as files etc

Ok please read till the end and DONT close this thread till you have read

I am thinking of moving my attachements from database into a folder. my questions are
    1. What happens to the thumbnailed pics?
    2. my stats are as follows : Attachment Disk Usage77.22 MB
If i move to files will this drop and make forum faster?
    3. will attachments be automatically removed from databse when its finished making the files
    4. How long will it take to move 77.22mb from databse to files ?

    cheers
