Problem with direct linking to thumbnail images

I have set up my usergroups so that unless you are logged in you can not view images that have been uploaded to the vB database. I have also enabled thumbnails, however I am finding that users are uploading the image, then editing the post and linking to the thumbnail image with an [IMG] tag so that the image is inline.

Is there any way to prevent this, or at the very least to parse the post code so that people who are not logged in do not see a broken image?

I like how the thumbnails are turned into links when a user group does not have permission to view them, but this system is completely bypassed if they put that link in an [IMG] tag.

You can the use of dynamic image tags for the [img] code. This would simply make it a link instead of a broken image.

You can do this under vBulletin Options -> Message Posting and Editing Options.
