  • Frequent corruptions of DB with vB 2.3.4

Lately I've been having very frequent corruptions of tables for my forums at http://forums.comicbookresources.com/ ... I'm currently running vBulletin 2.3.4., PHP version 4.3.2 (PHP Info can be found here: http://forums.comicbookresources.com/phpinfo.php ) and MySQL 4.0.14. The system is a dual proc AMD 2400 system with SCSI drives.

What's been happening lately is frequent corruptions of thread.myi. I've been having to run the repair script almost daily. It's not always thread.myi, but most of the time it is. Here's some text from the e-mail warning I receive:

    ---

    Database error in vBulletin 2.3.4:

Invalid SQL: SELECT * FROM thread WHERE threadid=57483
mysql error: Can't open file: 'thread.MYI'. (errno: 145)

    mysql error number: 101

    ---

And here's what the repair.php script said last time I ran it:

    ---

    Checking table thread
    Table Operation Type Text
vbulletin.thread check warning Table is marked as crashed
vbulletin.thread check error Record at pos: 5754364 is not remove-marked
vbulletin.thread check error record delete-link-chain corrupted
    vbulletin.thread check error Corrupt
    Repairing table thread
vbulletin.thread repair info Wrong bytesec: 34-78-101 at 5754364; Skipped

    E-Mail error:

    Database error in vBulletin 2.3.4:

Invalid SQL: SELECT * FROM thread WHERE threadid=57483
mysql error: Can't open file: 'thread.MYI'. (errno: 145)

    mysql error number: 101

    ---

After the repair is made it works okay, but if you bring up the main index page it can take upwards of 10 seconds for it to load. Individual forums come up quickly.

Any suggestions on what I can do to stabilize things? This is getting increasingly frustrating.

This is a bug in your server's version of MySQL. You will continue to have recurring corruption issues until you or your host upgrades to MySQL 4.0.16 or higher.

Thanks very much for the quick reply! I'll have MySQL upgraded in the next couple of days.
