  • cahgning logo to flash

    hello, I would liek to know how I can change the vbulletin logo on the top left to a flash logo?

    I can change it to any gifs or jpegs but it doesn't seem a flash is taken.

    any help would be appreciated

    Adding a flash logo requires that you edit your header template in your Admin CP -> Templates -> Modify -> [expand list] -> header.

    Flash files use the "embed" tag instead of the "img" tag. You need to change:

    Code:
    <img src="{titleimage}" border="0" alt="$bbtitle">
    ...to something like:

    Code:
    <embed src="{titleimage}">
    ...then specify the path and name to the .swf file in your Admin CP -> Styles -> Modify -> [fonts/colors/etc].

        Remove both instances of background="{imagesfolder}/menu_background.gif" from the header template.

          Sounds great but maybe the instructions are outdated because Admin CP -> Templates -> Modify -> [expand list] -> header doesnt exist. I tried going into styles and templates and expanding and going to header. I cant find
          Code:
          <img src="{titleimage}" border="0" alt="$bbtitle">
          anywhere though!

          Someone help please! Flash logo a must!

            Are you running vB3? This thread is for vB2.

            For vB3 you would replace:

            Code:
            <img src="$stylevar[titleimage]" border="0" alt="$vboptions[bbtitle]" />
            With this:

            Code:
            <embed src="$stylevar[titleimage]">
            Then specify the path and name to the swf file in your:

            Admin CP -> Styles & Templates -> Style Manager -> StyleVars (in the menu) -> Title Image

                In the header template

                AdminCP > Styles & Templates > Style Manager > Click on << >> > Find the header template.

                  I must be slightly retarded because I dont see that line of code at all and Ive gone through "header" AND "header include".

                    I figured it out. Works except one big problem. The swf gets shrunk down to the size of the old logo that was there.. :P How can i change the logo size to look properly?

                      I found this page that gives example code with dimensions.

                        where to put the dimensions

                        I am having the exact same problem. The flash banner that I have tried to add to the header is now super tiny. Where would you put the size attributes (the size is already 'in' the .swf file)?

                          I only know how to use the basic embed tag. I don't know how to specify dimensions. That page I linked to seems to have code that specifies dimensions. If that doesn't work for you then I recommend you search www.google.com for a tutorial on this.

                            I guess my question is where to do it in vbulletin? The .swf file is coded with dimensions. Do you I add the size attributes to the <embed src="$stylevar[titleimage]"> code?

                            Hope that makes more sense.

                              Okay after writing that I did just put the rest of the size attributes in that piece of code and it worked so I answered this question myself
