searching for posts older than 1 year

we have over a million posts on our site accumulated over 3 years and a user is asking me if its possible to search fro posts over 1 year old.

I had always thought this was possible, but I checked, the search utility only seems to allow searches to go back one year... Is there a way to search "from the begining"

You can search older posts. The problem is that you are limited to a maximum of 200 results. I'm pretty sure changing this would require hacking.
