In vB2 it was possible to just add raw html to when naming it

        as in Forum name : <a href="url" target="_blank"> Link </a>

In vB3 it can be made to open in a new page by either edting the template or a small trick

        Try this.

        http://www.site.com/" target="_blank

For version 2, this requires source code hacking, I think they released a source code modification on vBulletin.org for this.

For version 3, this is how: http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=93704

The question was how to get a forum to behave like a real link.
I don't see how your little template trick accomplishes this? Maybe explain it in a different way to me

in vB2 it was possible to just enter the html and it will directly link to whatever you use.

No, you don't suck. You are just a bit unexperienced. Maybe the hack for vb2 doesn't work no more in the latest version. You could also include the html in the forumhome template at the bottom, to appear as if it is the same as a category/forum.
