    The 'max_user_connections' is for the entire server - not just your forums. You can try turning persistent connections off in your config.php:

    PHP Code:
    // use persistant connections to the database
    // 0 = don't use
    // 1 = use
    $usepconnect 0
    But if you still have problems after that, all you can do is ask your host to raise the maximum number of connections they allow.

    but i don't have that many people on it at the moment. i have had 37 online at once but it comes up when i have 3 or 4 on there also.

    do i need to contact my server?

    Does anybody know what this means? I have hundreds of these messages getting sent to me.
