  • Subscribing to threads email notification not working?

I have had several of my members tell me that the emails they get when someone makes a post to an email they subscribed to isn't working any longer. It's an email that is sent to them to notifiy them that someone made a response to a thread they have subscribed to.

Why would this suddenly stop working? How do I fix it?

    TIA

There is no reason for this to stop working. Most likely there is something on their end that is blocking these emails - either as spam or because of mail server configuration.

      Really??

That is odd. There have been sooooo many members in this last week who said they no longer receive them. I even tested it and I'm not getting them either. Quite a few of them have been getting them for months and suddenly in the last week or so, they stopped getting them.

I guess I will check with them to see what email system they are using, but there is just tooo many members to think that they all had something happen at the same time...

Upload mailtest.php to your forums directory (it's in the 'extras' folder of the zip file) and run it from your browser. Using your email address as a test, what happens? Any errors? Do you get the email?

If you do not get the email then this is a server and/or mailbox issue. You will need to view the mail logs on the server to see what happened to those emails. Once vB sends it to PHP it's in the hands of the server. If you are on a shared server you may need to ask your host to look through the logs for you.
