    VB 2.2 - Winders 2003

    I just got the server/forum up this evening and the backups are not going to the file specified - all is going to the screen instead.

    Security setting?

    How exactly are you backing up. If you are using the 'SQL Dump of data' this goes to the screen.

    Note, the only reliable method of backing up and restoring a database is with shell access via telnet or ssh. Please see the instructions here:

      Also - a word to any other newbs like me: mySQL is case-sensitive. I kept trying to use Root instead of root for my command lines and I couldn't understand why it was erroring. Oh well.
