  • Converting from phpBB

    Hey all,

I currently have a phpBB forum with 5,000+ posts that I'm trying to convert to VB.

I upload the DB, get it working, then I attempt to convert, and its blank!

Can anyone assist me in converting? Or If I sent it to one of the friendly VB staff members, could they do the conversion for me?

I want to get my VB working, but I can't until this step is finished.

    Thanks all!

What exactly have you done to install and run the importer? Are you trying to import to vB 2.3.2?

That was a question thread. I originally installed VB3, but realized there was no converter.

So that thread was asking if there is one, this thread is asking help on doing it for phpBB2 -> vb2.3

Yes I understand. I still need to know exactly what you've done up to this point in order to help.

Ok, well heres what I've done.

Since my phpBB2 DB is HUGE, I had my host SSH it to get it restored.

I then created a VB database, and installed.

Then I created the 'importers' folder, uploaded the importer... etc

Then I ran it in the ACP. And I get a table not found error.

I look in the DB, and suddently its empty!

Hmmm...there is absolutely nothing in the import script that would change your phpBB database. All it does is read it.

The first thing to do is make sure that both the phpBB and vB databases have the same db user and password. This is the most common problem when runing imports.

              Yeah, I've done that.

Thats why I'm asking if a staff member could convert it for me and send it.

This isn't a service we normally provide. However you can fill out a support ticket and we can try to help.
