Making threads listed in the order they were posted without getting bumped by replies

I want to convert all my site's news to a forum. So I want to take all my old news and post it and then edit the date on the post so it is displayed chronologically from oldest to newest. Can you edit the post dates to make a chronological listing of news like this?

I think u can do this , using the "threadid"

Can I make it so a forum will do this? I guess it would be called a chronological listing, in order of the newest thread to the oldest without being affected by replies... but people can still reply. I'm not talking about sticky threads.
