e-mailing members page freezes

I have a problem that didn't occur before. Actually, it did occur a couple of times before but not as often as now.

When e-mailing members the page that indicates which members are being e-mailed (email.php) freezes and I cannot continue to send my newsletter to the next 500 members, so all I can do is to refresh the page. That way many members get the same e-mail twice or even three times if the page fails again. I just tried to e-mail app. 15 x 500 members and I think I had to refresh the page 10 times and I have no idea why it is happening so often now.

What can be the cause of this?

Try emailing people in smaller groups. Maybe 100 per page...

I have app. 28.000 members.. That would cost me a week? I never had the problem before, so there must have been some kind of change, perhaps on the server?
