  • Am I in trouble for running "repair.php" without closing the board?

I have been running the "repair.php" many times without actually closing the board.

I just found out that it's recommended you closed the board before doing so.

Is it really that important to close the board when running this script?

I run it even if there's no trouble these days, just to be safe and sure...and to have the tables optimized on a regular basis.

Can I get by without closing the board and running the "repair.php" file?

 That which is obvious, needs no introduction.

You could, but there's a big chance that it will corrupt a table in the process.

Actually it's a 'slight' chance, not a big one. (Each table is locked as it is being repaired.) Nonetheless it is preferable to close your forums first, particularly the busier your forums are.
