Restoring Deleted Posts from Backup

An admin on my forum decided to delete all of his posts. I would like to restore them. I have done a search on the this forum and know that deleted posts are actually removed and not just marked deleted. However, there were a number of mentions that deleted posts could be restrored from a backup. However, I can't find any instructions on how to do this.

I have access to a backup from a few days before the deletion. Can I restore just the deleted posts, and if so, how would I go about this?

If it was only a few days before the deletion it will probably be alot easier for you to just reupload the full database through telnet/ssh
