  • Database error only on one thread!

This one puzzles me. All the threads in my forum work great and have been accessible without a problem. Suddenly, this morning, one of the threads started returning a database error when people clicked on the title to read the thread. Currently it is the only thread showing an error. Here's the error message (followed by a link to view for yourself):

    Database error in vBulletin 2.3.0:
    Invalid SQL:
    SELECT
    post.*,post.username AS postusername,post.ipaddress AS ip,user.*,userfield.*,icon.title as icontitle,icon.iconpath,

    ,avatar.avatarpath,NOT ISNULL(customavatar.avatardata) AS hascustomavatar,customavatar.dateline AS avatardateline
    FROM post
    LEFT JOIN icon ON icon.iconid=post.iconid
    LEFT JOIN user ON user.userid=post.userid
    LEFT JOIN userfield ON userfield.userid=user.userid
    LEFT JOIN avatar ON avatar.avatarid=user.avatarid
    LEFT JOIN customavatar ON customavatar.userid=user.userid

To see what happens, go to http://www.digitalmediafx.com/forums...php?forumid=41 then click on "Sinbad Being Slaughtered at the Box Office".

    I'm using version 2.3.0.

I appreciate any assistance you can give. Thank you!

Upload repair.php (it's in the 'extras' folder of the zip file) to your admin directory. Close your forums, then run it from your browser with this syntax:

    http://www.yourdomain.com/forum/admin/repair.php?html=1&check=1

[Of course change the exact URL as appropriate for your forums.]

If everything reports 'Ok' then reopen your forums. If not, then run it again. The second time everything should report Ok (except the session table which you can ignore.)

      Steve,

Thank you for your ultra quick response. I tried what you said, but when it goes to run the script, I get the following error:
Database error in vBulletin Control Panel 2.3.0:
      Invalid SQL: CHECK TABLE access
mysql error: You have an error in your SQL syntax near 'CHECK TABLE access' at line 1
      mysql error number: 1064
Date: Tuesday 08th of July 2003 06:30:06 PM
      Script: http://www.digitalmediafx.com/forums...html=1&check=1
      Referer:
Any further assistance would be appreciated. Thank you again!

Update: Even though I got the error when running the script, the problem with the thread was resolved. Put this under the category of "things that make you go hmmmmmm..." Thanks for your help!

It definitely sounds like an outdated MySQL version. I've never seen this error with repair.php before.
