    My Dyslexic Upload...

    Ok, I have been trying to re-read thru the directions on doing an upgrade and I'm wondering about the instruction sequencing and if I'm doing it right....

    vBulletin 2
    ~~~~~~~~~~~
    The additional scripts that you will need are in this zip file.
    1) Download the latest version of vBulletin from the online members area:
    ht tp://www .vbulletin.com/members/
    2) Upload all the latest files on top of your existing files, using the zip that you downloaded from the members area.
    3) Upload the files in this zip file, into your /admin directory.
    4) Once you have done that, you will need to load up certain pages in your web browser. More detailed instructions are below.
    OK, heres where my problems start...
    5) Follow the instructions on screen.
    Follow "which" instructions on the screen? Are the instructions in step 5 above that should be on the screen the instuctions that you get if you go to the address listed down below? ... ie: go to
    ht tp//your.site/forums/admin/upgrade13.php ???
    ...Thats what I assumed and did.
    6) You are now running version 2.2.0 . For further instructions on how to complete the upgrade to the latest version, please visit this page:
            So my question: is:
            ht tp://your.site/forums/admin/upgrade13.php
            ... the first upgrade script screen I should be running? (b'cuz, I think that's the one I ran first).
              If you are upgrading from version 2.0.3, then yes. You'll need to run this through to completion, then run upgrade14-23 in sequence.
                  That is only the first upgrade script. As I said:
                  You'll need to run this through to completion, then run upgrade14-23 in sequence.
                    ...Have I done uploads in the right order?
                    Here's the sequencing I used.... ( corrections & suggestions requested please):
                    To start with:
                    1. Ancient version 2.0.3 is running
                    2. I backed up my 2.0.3 Database
                    3. went to http://www.vbulletin.com/members/upgrade.html
                    4. Per instructions at that page I next....
                    --- Went to get the "From 1.1.x and 2.0.3 or before" upgrade.zip
                    --- Based on the instructs in the readme of that upgrade.zip I next...
                    • Downloaded vB2.3.0 from the online members area: http://www.vbulletin.com/members/
                    • Uploaded all the latest (2.3.0) files on top of my existing files, using the 2.3.0 zip that I downloaded from the members area
                    • Uploaded the files in the upgrade.zip admin folder, into my /admin directory (the files in the upgrade.zip file consisted of upgrade1.php....to...upgrade13.php and a WS_FTP.log )
                    Then the instructions said "You will need to load up certain pages in your web browser." "More detailed instructions are below." "Follow the instructions on screen."
                    Since I was running version 2.0.3... I went to the
                    ....page and ran that page.
                    To see the feedback results of the running the upgrade13.php page, see my post above this one.
                    To check the status of my board, I went to see what it looked like after running the upgrades up to this point. This is when I got the error that I mentioned earlier in this thread.
                    My Questions:
                    1) Are any of the steps I've mentioned doing in this post out of sequence?
                    2) Is it possible that though my board does not display at this time and gives me an error when I attempt to view it right now, that if I go on and run the remaining upgrade.php steps (14 to 23) that at the end of the process my board will display without any errors? Or should all boards display right now as vB 2.2.0 boards?
                      Please reread what I said. You need to run the other upgrade scripts as well - upgrade14 through upgrade23. This is also explained in the upgrade instructions:
                      Since you are now at 2.2.0:
                        Ok, will do Steve. I just thought that since it said I was now at vB 2.2.0 that my board should at least display as a 2.2.0 board.
                        (Since it didn't/doesn't, I thought that might indicate that I did soumething wrong up to this point in the process....)
                          That only upgraded the database to 2.2.0. Since you are now runngn 2.3.0 files, you need to complete ALL the upgrade steps to get your database to 2.3.0.
                              Ok, all seems to have gone well up to including the 2.2.8 to 2.2.9 upgrade
                              Updating version number .... Done!
                              Upgrade to 2.2.9 completed successfully!
                              Thank you for using vBulletin.
                              But now, as I enter the upgrade23.php I get this message:
                              Warning: you are currently running version 2.2.0 and this script upgrades from version 2.2.9. If you are sure you want to continue, please click here otherwise please consult the upgrade instructions.
                              Huh? 2.2.0? Should I proceed? upgrade php's 14 to 22 all gave "completed successfully" messages.
