    '--enable-safe-mode'

turn off safe mode, or use the safe mode option to upload, in the vb options panel

            chmod the directory

            Safe Mode Temp Directory
If your server is running in safe_mode, you'll need to specify a directory that is CHMOD to 777 that will act as a temporary directory for uploads. All files are removed from this directory after database insertion.
Note: Do NOT include the trailing slash ("/") after the directory name.
Like here, set this to YES, and specify a upload directory

Then create a dir, 'uploads', (The one you specified above) and chmod it, in flashfxp this involves right clicking it, like...

Then you should get a box like below, chmod it to 777, and it should work.

Just got a msg from hosting company that their /tmp directory is full. This could be the cause of it I hope. Let's wait for them to get that dir cleared and see what happens. Thanks for the help.
