  • problems with Install

hi I have just tried to install Vbulletin. I changed the config.php details. Upload the contents of the upload folder to a sub directory called forums. When I call up the install.php file I get:-

Warning: Unknown(): open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/home/httpd/vhosts/talkguitar.com/httpdocs/forums/admin/install.php) is not within the allowed path(s): (/) in Unknown on line 0

Warning: Unknown(/home/httpd/vhosts/talkguitar.com/httpdocs/forums/admin/install.php): failed to create stream: Operation not permitted in Unknown on line 0

Warning: Unknown(): Failed opening '/home/httpd/vhosts/talkguitar.com/httpdocs/forums/admin/install.php' for inclusion (include_path='/') in Unknown on line 0

    Any Ideas?
    Thanks in advance,

    Gerard ([email protected])

That's a strange one since install.php doesn't upload anything. Also the 'line 0' is strange.

Try this. Reupload the vB php files and make sure you upload them in ASCII and overwrite the ones on the server.

What is the exact path on the server that you are trying to install this? You may need to get help from your host since they have put some restrictions in place.

I've never seen this problem before. Do you have telnet or ssh access to the server? If so fill out a support ticket at:

            http://www.vbulletin.com/members/support_form.php

Be sure to include the login info to your telnet/ssh.

Otherwise you're going to have to ask your host about this error.
