  • Registration image spam protection missing

    I got a couple of emails today from people trying to register on my boards. It seems the verification image that appears with letters in it, the one that prevents bots from registering, isn't showing. It appears like as a broken image to the person signing up.

    Any idea why this might be happening?

    Does your server's PHP support GD?
    Did you choose the correct GD version in the Admin CP?
    Did you upload the new regimage.php file?
    Did you revert your registration templates back to original?

      Yes
      Yes, I think GD 2+
      No. But this has been working. This only just became a problem.
      No.

        You need to choose the correct GD version that is running on your server. You need to reupload the regimage.php file. And you need to revert your registration templates.

          Well, I have the same problem.

          GD2 is installed and shows up nicely in the phpinfo.

          I've tried setting GD within vB as 1.x and as 2+ (use image verifiation=yes) and neither works.

          Filepermissions on regimage.php were 644

          I didn't revert the registeradult template (it's the original one), but this is in there:
          Code:
           <!-- *** -->
          $imageregbit
          <!-- *** -->
          What NEW regimage.php is the one mentioned in this thread? Where do I get it?

            Well, I got the regimage.php from the zip I just downloaded from the members area. That didn't help

              Did you enable Image Verification in the 'User and registration' options?

                    I guess I need to do this to. This is promting me for a username and password. Would this be my board member info or my vBulletin reg name and password. If the later, how do I get my password?

                      This is your customer number and password - the same info you got when you ordered vB and used to access the Members Area to download the software.

                      If you don't know this information, please request it be sent to your email address using this form: http://www.vbulletin.com/members/lostpw.php
