  • Backing Up In Phpmyadmin

    I cant see my site but my ftp and phpmyadmin works. I really need to make a backup of my site. How can I do it?

    This will only work if your database size isn't very large.

    -Log into phpMyAdmin
    -Click on your vBulletin database name
    -To the right of your screen, select 'Export'
    -Select the tables you would like to backup, and make sure 'Structure and data' has a dot next to it.

        Yep, it looks like you backed it up correctly.

        Just make sure the backup is complete. If you are unsure, post the last 2 lines of your .sql file here, so I can confirm it.

          INSERT INTO word VALUES (20633,'*~album');
          INSERT INTO word VALUES (20634,'dates~*');

          Is that right????

          Also....any idea how big my database can get before i stop having to back up that way?

            The backup seems like it's complete. It should end like how you mentioned.

            The biggest board I ever backed up via phpMyAdmin was 300MB. It's not recommended you backup a board that size with phpMyAdmin, though.

            A more reliable way would be through SSH or Telnet.

                It works fine right now because your database is pretty small. That won't be the case when you have a larger database, becuase PHPMyAdmin isn't all that reliable for larger databases. That's why the fail-safe + best method is using telnet/ssh.
