  • Clean Install Problem

Ok, we were working on doing a clean install of vB @ www.all-madden.net

On step 3 of the new install we got the following error:

    Attempting to attach to database...

Warning: Unknown MySQL Server Host 'http' (2) in /home/virtual/site4/fst/var/www/html/forums/admin/db_mysql.php on line 38

Warning: mysql_select_db(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /home/virtual/site4/fst/var/www/html/forums/admin/db_mysql.php on line 47
The database has failed to connect because you do not have permission to connect to the server. Please go back to the last step and ensure that you have entered all your login details correctly

Anyone know wwhat we need to do to correct this? We are really new to vB so we don't understand what the error is telling us...

Change $servername back to 'localhost' in config.php.

Thanks for the quick response. That fixed that problem, here is what it is telling us now:

Warning: mysql_select_db(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /home/virtual/site4/fst/var/www/html/forums/admin/db_mysql.php on line 47

That is already the current value of $servertype...

          any other suggestion?

How would one find out the mysql area of their server?

What version of PHP is running? Upload the phpinfo.php file from the 'extras' directory of the zip file to your forums directory. Then post the URL here. This will help us troubleshoot the problem.

Fill out a support ticket at:

Include your telnet or ssh access info and the database info you are trying to use.

P.S. I'm really not sure why you are installing this all over again. Once your restore the old database the 'fresh' database will be gone.
