  • Several layout and default questions

    First question:

Where do I change how large the message icon appears for each thread?

    Second:

Is there a way for a default avatar to be selected automatically for a new member, which they can change after they are signed up?

    Third:

Is there a way to make all threads appear in a forum, or to at least change the number of days worth of threads to show?

    Fourth:

Is there a way to flag message icons so only certain message boards can use them, while others cant?

    Thanx for any help given

    1. Edit the posticonbit template.

    2. This requires hacking. Ask over at vbulletin.org.

    3. Admin CP -> Forums & Moderators -> Modify -> {forum name} [edit] -> Default view age -> 1000

    Repeat this for each forum.

    4. See answer #2.

      Still on the #1 question:

I dont want to change the size of the icon when you are choosing it, I want to change the size of the icon/buffer space/whatever so the icon is larger in the thread list after you select a forum to view.

      Thanx for the other answers

Sorry but that sentence confused me. Perhaps a link to a specific URL or a pic would help explain.

          Here is a link

          http://www.toonarific.com/forum/foru...p?s=&forumid=7

for instance, the WB icon is very small, and the icon on the Alexander thread doesnt even appear, even though you can see it if you click on the thread itself. I want to make the icon on the thread list larger

                      OK
                      I see your site now.

Do as Steve says and edit the posticonbit template.

                      Search for: height="15" width="15"

If all your icons are the same size, change these values to your icon size.
If your icons are diferent sizes, delete this.

                        It's showing now.

The size of the WB icon is specified in the posticonbit template as I mentioned above. I have no idea what's wrong with the icon for the Alexander thread though.

The posticonbit template only controls the size of the icons to the icon menu when you are adding a new thread. I will alter the size in that template. Go into a different forum and try and post a new thread. You will see the new size change then. It doesnt affect the thread menu itself.

If it's not posticonbit that you are looking for then the one you want is hardcoded in forumdisplay.php. You'll need to hack this file to change this.

I would not have thought of looking for it there.
Should really be easier to edit. I have never changed my icon set so it never affected me but I can see that custom icons will vary in size.

                              toonarific: try this.

Make a backup of your forumdisplay.php
Open forumdisplay.php in a text editor
                              Find:
                              Code:
                              $thread[icon]="<img src=\"$thread[iconpath]\" alt=\"$thread[icontitle]\" width=\"15\" height=\"15\"
                              Remove:
                              Code:
                              width=\"15\" height=\"15\"
Upload forumdisplay.php to your vBulletin directory.

That's not a hack, is it?
                              It is!?
                              Well, it shouldn't be.
I'd like to see this done in templates.
