If your host doesn't give you shell access, ask them if they can do the mysqldump for you.

It is possible to backup and move your database by other means, but it is a royal pain. First, see if your host will do the backup.

    Moving Servers, grrrr.....

The server I am currently on does not allow shell access. So I am moving to a server that does.

The problem is I need to download the database first. I just left a support ticket asking them if there's anyway I can get shell access because as far as I know, you can get shell access on any server as long as the host enables it. Is my assumption correct?

Anyway, assuming they say no, what other options do I have? I cannot save the entire database at one time using phpmyadmin but if I save the database table by table would that work?
