We need to see the entire error message. Either post the contents of the email you received, or right-click on the error page and go to View/Source. Then cut-n-paste the error message here.

Did you run the install script already before? If not, another program you are using with the same MySQL Database has already claimed the 'access' table.

        You have few options:
        1) Empty out the database. (Do not do this if there are other tables in the database other than vBulletin's - Read the warning on the install page before continuing with this option)

        2) Create a new database for vBulletin

        3) Manually delete the 'access' table via phpMyAdmin if another program isn't using it.

Did you upload all of the PHP files?
Did you enter the correct address of your forums? (Admin CP --> vBulletin Options --> [General Settings] --> URL)

What do you mean there are three files of each? I don't see how this could be.

                  forumdisplay.php
                  forumdisplay.php3

It looks like you're ran the install script for the .php3 files but are really using the .php extentions.

                    Here's my suggestion:
                    1) Delete all of the vBulletin files currently on your server,
                    2) Upload the vBulletin files with the .php extention - not .php3
                    3) Rerun install.php

Please note when you rerun install.php you'll need to re-empty your database because you'll get the same error you were getting earlier.
